Hi folks.
I have thousand pict without GPS location.
Having tried to update with PSE 15 the location, I have notice that Exif information are not updated. I suppose this location data is only updated on the catalog.
This is very unpleasant, because any other app won't benefit about the update I have made.
I may be missed the way to update also the EXIF GPS data ?

Tried another angle : Update already present picture, using another tool which update the Exif GPS info. Once done, I have reopen PSE 15 and check if he detects the GPS location of the updated pict : Nada. PSE is unable to read Exif location once it has been updated outside.

Anyone knowing how to force PSE to re read the Exif data is welcome.

General information about how the Organizer manages the exif data (not only GPS):
- At import time, and only at import time, your files are read and the exif data are stored in the catalog.
- You can manage those data from the organizer, the result is also stored by default in the catalog and you can check the result both in the organizer and in the editor.
- If you want to save the changed data from the catalog to the file itself (or the xmp sidecar file for raws), you have to use the command 'Write metadata to files' (shortcut Ctrl W)
- If you want to update the information changed externally in the file, you have to remove the file from the catalog and reimport.

So, to put it in more general words, your feature request would be to provide a way to update exif data in the catalog from the file itself (Lightroom has such ability).
The only exif data which can be updated in the catalog in similar situation is the caption. You can 'Update thumbnail', which not only creates a brand new thumbnail, but also updates the caption. I have not tested this for GPS data, but I doubt that would work.

Thanks for this clear explanation.
After test, it works great.
Too bad, in fact, that the only way to re read the exif is to delete/import foto. Hope there will be improvement in a not too far future.
