Elements 14 slow/unresponsive when using file, edit, image etc controls (face recognition)

I am running photoshop elements 14 on a new DELL Inspiron 5559 with Intel core i7 CPU and 16GB of RAM. The program runs extremely slow and starts bleeping whenever I use the tab buttons such as 'file' 'edit' or ''image' at the top of the workspace. The cursor becomes slow and unresponsive. Could you advise on a solution as the application is unworkable at present.

My guess - face recognition feature (enabled by default) is going through your files. It kills any PC.

Thanks - I've turned off the face recognition and the whole system seems to be working much better.

Jeremy thanks for that but Adobe people you should fix this code. It is awful, runs so slow that windows 10 keeps saying the program has stopped responding
