Elements 12 update process needs better automation

I opened Elements 12 (newly reinstalled since updating my PC to Windows 10), and clicked on Help / Updates...  from where I chose to install updates.

A new window opened and the update process started, from where I chose to continue the update.

Then it told me it couldn't continue because Elements was running!  Surely it is an easy coding to close Elements - after all, this is the Elements Updater called from within Elements!  So I had to manually close Elements, whereupon it told me it could not continue because Elements was running. Eh?  I had just closed it!

I had to go into the Windows Task Manager, to find that there was an Elements File Monitor running, which I closed - then the upgrade worked.

That VAST majority of users would have no clue as to the Task Manager, so would have been stuck on this , knowing they had closed Elements. I can only imagine the frustration that would ensue.

Why on earth doesn't the update process automatically close Adobe programs?  I do hope this has been improved in later releases.
