I have been using PhotoShop Elements 8.0 on a Dell with Windows 7 for about 4 months it always worked before. Yesterday I was using layers and exited out. Now when I Click on the PSE Icon and then select Edit it opens for about two seconds and then closes. Organizer works fine. No error messages appear.
thank you

Not much to go on here, but I would definitely suggest recreating your preference files first. These can generally act as a fuse or lightning rod, protecting the program at large, but once they've been hit they need to be replaced.

Simply press and hold the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys right after clicking on Edit. If you get the timing right, you'll be prompted to delete the settings file. Tell it yes and see if the Editor stays open.

Hi Brett

I did what you said, and "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Setting" came up I answered yes and about two seconds later the Editor closed.
Tried several times and each time the editor closes.

As we are not getting any kind of error message, we will have to dig for information. Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer. In the left hand column, expand the Windows Logs folder, then choose Application. Look for Photoshop Elements Editor under the Source column, under the level column it will probably say Error. Select it from the list and see what kind of information is given in the General and Details tabs in the lower half. We may not get such a report however.

More general troubleshooting would include trying a new user account or reinstalling the program.

Brett,

I was able to get to the Event Viewer, Application and Source. Source went from PC Doctor to Restart Manager so I resorted Level and reviewed all Errors. I found this error

Under General:

The Prpgram Photoshop Elements Editor.exe Version 8.0.0.0. Stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.
To see if more info about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center Control Panel.

Unfortunately, this provides zero help in leading to a solution. Is there more to the Binary or Bytes info? All it says is "Unknown".

Did you try the other troubleshooting I suggested? Run in a new user account or reinstalling the program?

I recently bought a wacom tablet that came with photoshop elements 8, and everything runs just fine except for the editor, when I try to open it it says "loading the editor" which it does for a while, and then it just stops. I have reinstalled it, which didn't work.
