Elements: Editor doesn't close properly-can't get back to editor

Photoshop Premiere elements 9 is my 4th iteration of this software and still the same issues persist. I cannot seem to get back to organizer after I have edited, saved and closed my file. It tells me to finish in editor. I AM FINISHED, and have no idea how to resolve this. Only recourse is to close the software using the task manager (only thing that works) and go back in. Second issue. Files - even ones I don't use - getting unconnected for no reason. Then I am unable to reconnect them...the browse and find don't seem to work.

This sounds pretty severe. You say that you cannot even close the Editor without using the Task Manager? That would be pretty bad. And it's been happening with four different versions? All on the same computer? Have you tried working in a new user account?

Thanks for responding.

The problems that I am having seem to be exacerbated by Elements 9 - even though the results are better when I can get everything to work.

The long standing issue I have is with the editor not closing even after I have saved and closed a file that I am working on. Is there anything else that I should do? Then files mysteriously become disconnected even though they haven't budged from where they have always been on the hard drive.

If I could solve these two I think the third with the software not closing might right itself.

I am not sure what you mean by a new user account? I am not working online but on my desktop or laptop.
Thanks again.

A user account is a personalized environment on your computer. When you turn on your computer and see that desktop with the picture you have chosen, that is a personal setting that is attached to the user account. If you were to go into a new user account, every personalized setting would be reset to factory defaults (all of your personal settings are saved in your account, you can always return to that account).

How to create a new user account depends upon the OS you are using. You will want to check with your OS manufacturer to find out how to create a new account. We would want to user an Admin account, so that it has proper access to system resources.

So what's the solution to this? (I'm having the same problem; I can't close PSE9 Editor; I can minimize/ maximize it but it won't close.)

thanks for any help in advance,
