Edit in function not available in Lightroom after making adjustments

I am working in LR 5.6 on a Windows 7 machine with plenty of memory. I cannot get the Edit in function to work with any image that I imported this evening and adjusted. I can use the Edit in function if I use an unadjusted image, if I reset the image, or if I open a previously adjusted image. All of my plug ins are up to date (I use PS, Nik, OnOne, Photomatix). I have tried repairing LR, but that doesn't work. If I remove the program and reinstall, will I have to reload all of the plugins I use? Can anyone help with this>

What happens exactly when you ask for an Edit In...

Nothing happens, Rick. I think, however, that I figured out the problem. I had captured a ColorChecker target for the photos I was editing and created a profile using that target. As soon as I applied that profile, I was unable to get Edit In to do anything. I applied other profiles that I had created and Edit In was working just fine. I used the same target capture and created a new profile, and now everything works just fine. Something must have corrupted the Profile that didn't allow the image to be edited with any of the plug ins. I discovered this by making some adjustments and then attempting to Edit In after each adjustment. The instant I applied the profile I was unable to use Edit In.

I really appreciate you taking the time to review my question and contact me. I know that the forum is populated by volunteers, and good folks like yourself are indispensable.

YES!!! How did you know? Have you had similar issues? Are there any other characters I should omit?

I saw a conversation somewhere, although I thought it was a bug in 5.5 that was fixed in 5.6.
