Illustrator: Edit Original tries to open in Apple's Preview instead of Photoshop

Why does the "Edit Original" default to Preview.

How does one "Edit" in preview?

Why can't Adobe make this link to Photoshop or an application of your choosing in this pull down window?

BTW, the solution to change my operating systems default "open with" is NOT a solution. Not an a Mac. because i don't want to preview jpgs with photoshop.

Is this something Adobe can't do? Is there some type of technical hurdle that's stopping Adobe from allowing the user to choose what app we want to edit a given file with?

thanks

That doesn't make sense.

Which application are you using?
Which version?

What file format are you trying to edit?

OK, this site does not support Illustrator - only the Photoshop family of products.

Someone in the Illustrator forums might be able to answer your questions about Illustrator's Edit Original issues: https://forums.adobe.com/community/il...
