Lightroom Classic: Edit In > Open as Layers in Photoshop not working

I currently have Lightroom Classic CC (v 8.4.1) and Photoshop CC (v 20.0.7), the latest upgrade available on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.12.6).  Previously I was able to open images from LR to PS as layers using Edit In > Open as Layers in Photoshop.  However, now it will not work.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled both programs, keeping preferences.  I've also disabled the home screen in Photoshop but it still doesn't work.  If PS is closed, it will open the program but nothing more.  Please help.  This is one of my most used functions in my daily workflow.  Thank you.

Update:  I just tried to open a RAW file (.CR2) off of a Canon 6D Mark II (all .CR2s are not the same, of course) and I get the error "cannot complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."  I updated both LR and PS recently and haven't used my laptop to edit since then and today I updated Camera Raw to the latest version as well.  Could this have anything to do with it?  Even still, when I'm in LR and try to use Edit In > Edit In Adobe Photoshop 2019 on a .TIF file that I can open directly in PS, it still doesn't work.  There's no error message for this, just no action at all.

Hey Chad
Your issue is probably macOS.  OS10.12.6 is well out of date, now.

The latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom Classic require MacOS 10.13 or later.   See here  :https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/system-requirements.html?guid=94f15cff-3619-4119-8008-609c...

I wouldn't upgrade to the latest MacOS (10.15 ) yet:  there may yet be a few bugs to iron out.  But everything is working OK with Mac OS 10.14.6

Hey Tim, I'm aware of that and I appreciate the input, however, I prefer to keep this version of Mac OS and I believe it the responsibility of a company such as Adobe to now allow updates past what an OS can handle.

Hi Chad,

Could you share some of the files where you are facing this issue to keniya@adobe.com?

Also, could you confirm if you are facing issue with other options with Edit-In Photoshop?

Hey Smit,  I'm now attempting to do the same on my desktop: Mac OS (v 10.11.6), Lightroom Classic CC (v 7.5), Photoshop CC (v 19.1.9) and Camera Raw in the latest version and still having the same exact issue with these types of files.  Yes, I am facing issues with other options with Edit-In Photoshop and also when I attempt to directly open the file in Photoshop.  The common denominator here seems to be Camera Raw being updated to the latest version.  I'll send over the files via email as well.  Please help, I have to resolve this as quickly as possible.  I have a client who is waiting on this project to be edited and this is literally my entire day-in-day out business.  Thank you.

Newest Update:  When in Photoshop on my desktop, going to Photoshop CC > About Plugins > Camera Raw, I receive the following error message - "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found."

FIX:  I was able to fix it on my desktop and will attempt to fix it on my laptop after I edit this project.  Because I received the error message during the action described directly above, I searched my Library and to see if Camera Raw files even existed on my hard drive anymore and found them.  Creative Cloud also showed Camera Raw as "up to date" as if the files were there.  However, I decided to try to install Camera Raw again using the following link:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html

I chose to download and install v 10.5 since it said it was compatible with my Mac OS.  Once I installed this version again, it worked like a charm.  Does anyone have any advice on issues that they could see this causing?  I didn't do an uninstall of the newest version of Camera Raw since the other CC programs were not finding them to begin with and there is no proper "uninstall" button.  Thanks!

I had exactly the same issue. But my solution was to clean scratch disk of my PS. And it helped.
