Lightroom: Edit Capture Time sometimes not working correctly

I have a Lightroom folder containing family photo's for my pedigree. I want to set the capture date of these scanned images to the date these photo's were most likely taken, so sometimes they end up in 1870 or so. In many cases this is working fine, but there are a number of photo's for which the capture date/time appears to be set as requested (they show up allright in the "edit capture date/time" dialog), but after export the EXIF does not contain this date but the date/time of export. I have tried setting the date to different values, but no luck.

Does this sound familiar to anybody ?

Actually this seems to be an OS problem: dates before 1900 are not handled correctly by the OS. This appears to be a very long running problem, for which a solution is not very likely to happen for some reason. Still I issued an OS bug report and hope Apple will recognise we have a history before 1900....
