Photoshop: Dynamic/interpolated feather/blur filter

I eagerly await a moment when something similar to my idea of dynamic/editable/interpolated feather/blur filter (originally posted here) will be available in Photoshop. Not sure how to call such thing, so sorry if doesn't make sense...

Imagine that you can create a vector shape and be able to control it's feather radius per anchor point of the path.

This way, creating a non-uniform shadow effect like in this tutorial would be a breeze. The same would apply to vector masks and clipping paths with controllable feather amount in different parts of the path.

Is it at all possible in terms of processing power of today's computers? Because programmatically, I think, it is?
