Duplicated files when generating 1:1 previews - Classic CC v7.4

When generating 1:1 previews of about 100 previously imported images I've found the rendering was pretty slow and started to see duplicated files (with "-2" suffix). In addition, there is no way of filtering duplicated files so I had to delete them manually. I've tried to reproduce the problem in another folder with just 20 files selected, with the same result.

I just started to build 1:1 previews of 111 shots I took last Saturday. These files are stored on my E drive in a main folder, Pictures 2018, and a subfolder for the month and day in this format, MMDD which would be 0623.
No duplicate files were created in that folder or in any other folder.
You must be doing something other than building 1:1 previews.
Please state the exact steps you are taking.

I suspect you are doing some type of Import of these images using the Copy option and selecting the same folder they are already stored in as the Destination during the import. Along with creating 1:1 previews of them.

Yes, it sounds like you use the import dialog and the option to create 1:1 previews in that dialog. What you should do is use the ‘Library - Previews’ menu.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I know it sounds weird but as I've said, the images were previously imported (months ago).
I've rendered the previews the usual way: LIBRARY>PREVIEWS>BUILD 1:1 PREVIEWS and the duplicates appeared. Two times in different folders.
Today, strangely enough, I'm trying to reproduce the error and the previews are rendered ok without duplicates. The only difference is I've deleted some GB of pictures in that hard drive.

BTW, I have a Windows 10 Pro v1803 PC.
