Duplicate catalog entries at each subdirectory to top directory Lightroom classic 9.0

Just downloaded lightroom classic 9.0 on my windows 10 machine and noticed that I have multiple copies of all my catalog entries where there are subdirectories. This happened during the new catalog build and if happening if I import a new photo into the catalog. If the picture is loaded in the 4th level subdirectory each directory above contains the photo (making 4 photos to upper most directory.)
The metadata is pointing to the right directory that the photo resides in, in all the multiples.  How do I fix this so it stops creating multiple copies and how do I fix the multiple copies .

Is this multiple previews or multiple catalog entries?

Have you looked at the folders in Explorer?
LR Classic show the images in subfolder in the folder above, the top level folder, and the folder above that and the folder above that and then in the Drive letter or name. But there is only ONE image file.

Solution:  Don't know if this is a new option but obviously I did not have the following option checked in the old version.  under library uncheck the "show photos in subfolder."  And we are back to to what I consider normal.

Hi Thomas! It's not a new option - been around for years. It's a feature, not a bug...
