Dual display problem in LR4

I use a quad-core MacPro with 16GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card with dual 27-inch Apple monitors. when using LR 4.1 histogram and preview updates are very quick until I enable the second monitor. Then it takes 10-15 seconds to calculate the histogram and previews. If I then disable the second display it still takes 10-15 seconds to calculate the histogram and previews. Only disabling the second display and restarting LR4 returns to normal. This slow performance makes the second display unusable for all practical purposes.

Well it seems this problem was of my own making. I followed the advice in this article:

http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/o...

In the course of making these adjustments I discovered that my ACR cache was pointing to a folder on a disk that is no longer in my system. The ACR cache setting is the same for both Photoshop and Lightroom. I had made this setting for Photoshop a long time ago and just forgot about it. So apparently by not gavin a valid cache filesystem available I effectively disabled it causing my performance to go to heqq.

Everyone should read the article referenced above!!!
