Lightroom: Ability to Export with custom names & index numbers

Lightroom export should include the option to "Custom Name" the images with their Index Number. Not just image number & sequence numbers. So when I retouch 25 images I can quickly select them and export them with their index numbers: 011_photo,125_photo, 347_photo, for example. This example assumes I was exporting image #11, #125 & #347. Hope this makes sense. This would very incredibly value to me, and others.

I don't rename the images. Too much time-shifting involved, with 4-camera shoots, to make this feasible. It makes sense that we should be able to stamp the images' index numbers into their final names upon export. At least to me it does...

I found another link where someone was looking for this same functionality. Years ago: http://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thr...

Glad to see I'm not alone! :) But how I've got around this — since I've had no option but to implement a workaround — is to take the collection that holds the images in question and rename those files. So, I may have started with 1,000 shots, made 600 rejects and delivered a pool of 400. I'll do a quick rename of just those 400 shots. Sequence them: 001_filename - 400_filename.

Then I can easily find those "18 shots" that need retouching, or are destined for an album, etc. I'll re-export those shots and use "filename" as part of the nomenclature.

Not as elegant as spitting it STRAIGHT out with the "index" number. There's an extra step. But—it works.

I don't understand how Index number is not an exportable field!!! Come on guys! I don't have my files re-named, and on top of that even if i did re-name them at the outset, i would be doing a lot of sorting and re-sorting within the collection. Because I can't export the index number in the file name, I have to do a huge workaround where I export them, then re-import them, then apply the color labels, then export them AGAIN. Please implement this feature!
