Photoshop: Ability to drag and drop layers from the canvas to a trash button on the document window

I have an idea to help improve the workflow of Adobe Photoshop (as well as any other Adobe product that implements the same functionality).

In addition to having a "trash" icon in the layer panel footer, also include it somewhere along the bottom of the current active window. This way, the user simply needs to select the image with the pointer tool and drag it to the trash (which also removes the layer from the panel). Shift/clicking multiple images allows all selected to be dragged to the trash and disposed.

This saves the user the step of having to click the image, then leave the work window to move the mouse over to the layer panel, and drag the selected layer to the trash.

Small step saved but significant when dealing with many deletes over the course of time.
