Lightroom Desktop: Drag zoom does not work when a photo is in a stack

When using a brush on a photo while viewing in a stack, holding the space bar to drag and zoom does not work. When removing the photo from the stack, it then works as intended. I am guessing this is not the intention - space bar drag to zoom shouldn't be affected by the view.

zooming isn't the problem - it is getting the hand cursor to come up, which usually comes up with space bar.

scenario would be using the brush tool zoomed in close for detail, then needing to "drag" the image up while staying at the same zoom level. space bar usually pulls up the hand icon, but this same functionality isn't working while in a stack

It's working on my Windows 10 system. Try a reinstall and Preferences reset as outlined at the below link.

I am on Mac Catalina. I have recently uninstalled and reinstalled so I don't think this is the issue

Did you try a Preferences reset? Uninstall and Reinstall does not remove the old file.

Thanks for the suggestion Todd. I tried running this reset preferences dialog, but the issue still persists.

I'm guessing this isn't a common issue for most people and there is a workaround, to just remove the photo from the stack, edit it, then add it back. Just posting this here to:

1) see if anyone else has this issue and has a solution
2) report it so that the development team is aware, and can add to their backlog if necessary

It is working for me here on 10.14.6 as well. The behavior of the tool / hand is the same inside or outside of the stack.

Mojave seems to have a lot less issues than Catalina. not sure what to say to others of "it works on my machine". I sent a screenshot and demo, uninstalled and reinstalled, and removed my preferences. not much else I can do to try and fix it. just thought I would report in case others are having this issue too
