Lightroom: Where can I download Lightroom 5?

Is there anywhere that someone can download the standalone version of Lightroom 5? The link on the website where all the downloads are available only apparently provides a download for the Creative Cloud version. I hand out the link and they come back and tell me it isn't for the standalone. Is the standalone version not available anywhere anymore? Are those users just left in the dark from now on?

I gave someone that link today, and they reported back that it took them to the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom 5. I've never followed through on the download because I haven't needed it so I have just taken their word for it. I feel like I'm really in the dark on this.

James, there really aren't two versions.  If you download Lightroom 5.7.1 from the 'standalone environment' or if you download it via the Creative Cloud app, it is the exact same program. The only difference is how you validate your license.

If you choose to enter a subscription-associated Adobe ID, you have access to Creative Cloud features - which for 5.7.1 is Lightroom mobile.

If you enter a serial number you will be in the exact same software only you will not have access to Lightroom mobile.

Sometimes when you install for the first time or after a long period of time,  LIghtroom grants a 7-day trial to the mobile features. At the end, you enter your serial number and away you go.  This may be what you are seeing.

In any case you can serialize a Creative Cloud version by following the instructions at this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/serialize-lightroom-cc-trial-to-activate-as-lightroom-6.html While these instructions are for 6.x, I am pretty sure they will work for 5.x but I haven't tested that specifically.

Rikk I think, actually I know, there was 2 separate downloads for LR 5. One for the CC version and one as a stand alone. We ran into this problem many times on the Adobe Help forums back when LR 5 was wrapped into the CC system and Users that bought LR 5 before CC as a stand alone product had to use a different download. Yes of course the CC version and the stand alone version of LR 5 are the exact same program but there was, at one time, a separate download for the stand alone version.
IIRC there was no way to change the CC version of LR 5 into the stand alone version.
What gets me is why there isn't a listing at this page, http://supportdownloads.adobe.com/product.jsp?product=113&platform=Windows , for both LR 4 and 5. Adobe allows anyone to download any of the LR versions from 3 back to 1 but not LR 4 or 5.

Yes, I understand all that. However, I have never been caught in this dilemma since I switched over to the Creative Cloud and don't know how to respond to those who are caught in it. There is something very confusing about the download because they become confused. I will post a link to this discussion and hope it will provide some insight for the user. For those of us who understand how this update process really works it is simple. But for a lot of users out there who are trying to make sense of the update process it is still extremely confusing.

Yes, that is what they want - to force us into the subscription model. It's awful. Even if they don’t provide support, they should still provide the software people paid for.

So what did you pay for? What do you want? What do you need? What version? What operating system? Be specific. Maybe we can help.

James,

Check the link listed above by CMB https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

Expand the Lightroom 5 section and the direct download links for Mac and Windows are there. I checked and Windows is the 5.7.1 and does work with the perpetual license.

I am in the same position. I purchased Adobe Lightroom 5 (and its predecessors) and my serial number no longer considered valid. After hours on hold and on fruitless and frustrating call center experiences where they can really do nothing for me, I am unable to get help.

I can no longer use the software I purchased directly from Adobe. I have been unable to work with my photos for months.

I tried the link above and it's also for "Lightroom_5_CCM_LS11" version of software, which works fine, except for develop mode - THANKS!!! Will not let me validate my license as it is a CC version of app, and apparently every link on the internet has been shifted to CC, so I can no longer find a download of the version of 5 that I bought (directly from adobe (thinking that was safe!), a download purchase, so I have no other source)

But the version I did find before kept telling me the serial number was invalid, even though I got it directly off my adobe account page. This has been a nightmare, yet I will not be forced into creative commons because of these major "glitches."

So much for years of trust in Adobe.

Any help would be appreciated.

@theron: I had the same issue after switching to a new Macbook. My LR 5 upgrade key was not accepted by the .dmg version that you can from https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

Did some googling and tried some third party download websites. One of them was linking to http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/mac/5.x/Lightroom_5_LS11_mac_5_7_1.dmg, and that version is the non CC version. It accepts my LR 5 upgrade key and my LR 4 key. Notice that it complains about a invalid certificate during installation - just accept it and it installs correctly.
