Does LR 4 recognize Adobe 98 icc profile in a psd file?

Hi,

I have a problem between CS5 and Lightroom 4. I have a picture in psd form, with an icc profile (adobe 98) , which is well recorded in the file. I just import this picture in LR4 and immediatly export it as .psd file in adobe 98. I then open the both files, the original one and the other, which has been imported and exported from LR 4 and I can see that both pictures are not the same...

As I do the same operation but first convert the original psd file in ProPhoto, then import/export the file in LR4, I have no problem, the both files are the same. When I import psd file in LR with Prophoto profile and then export as psd from LR4 in Adobe 98, both files are the same...

My conclusion is, that LR4 don't recognize the profile Adobe 98 and don't make the right conversion in Prophoto, which is the normal way of working for LR4.

I told that problem to the french assistance, they didn't find a solution and asked me, to tell you my problem... Sorry for my English, which is not the best one... I hope, you understand my question and my problen.

Best regards

As I understand it, Lightroom uses the prophoto color space. And that cannot be changed. So when you open the original PSD file it is opened into a more robust color space. Therefore, it seems to me that it would be difficult to export an exact match the way you are trying to do it. It would probably be better to do your initial editing in Lightroom and then export finished copies in the appropriate color space.

Yes of course, the "normal" way of using LR is first to work in LR, then export in CS5. But, I just bought LR4 and I wanted to use the tools for editing some old pictures...

But normally, all "normal" tools for editing pictures, have to deal with different profiles. When LR says, that you can import Psd files you ormally understand, it can deal with profiles.

So my question is: do you alredy try to do that, does it work, am I doing something wrong, is that a bug in LR?
