I'm excited by Carousel, but I think DNG file support is key for a fair number of current Adobe customers. Please make this a priority.

Everyone needs to understand that Revel will never have the features a semi-serious amateur/professional photog desires. it is designed for the stay-at-home mom taking pictures of her kids at the pool with her iPhone.

They want the semi-serious/professional photog to throw their hard earned cash at them for the crap call "Creative Cloud." They are following Microsoft who decided to go to that subscription garbage.

All I really want Revel for is to be able to show photo's on my iPhone or iPad. I don't need to have my RAW files uploaded, but the jpg files or smart previews associated with them would be fine.

RAW support is live now! Has everyone tried it? You need to be a premium member. It's working well for my on an iPad, Mac, and iPhone.

YES! Raw support was added recently to the 2.2 iOS version and the browser version of Revel.

IF you are a premium subscriber to revel, then you can upload raw files to your iOS device via camera kit and upload them to revel. Alternately, you can upload them via adoberevel.com in a browser.

Enjoy!

Supported file types are:
arw (SONY)
cr2 (CANON)
crw (CANON)
dng
erf (EPSON)
raf (FUJI)
3fr, fff (HASSELBLAD)
dcr (KODAK)
mrw (KONICA)
mos (LEAF)
rwl (LEICA)
nef, nrw (NIKON)
orf (OLYMPUS)
rw2 (PANASONIC)
pef (PENTAX)
srw (SAMSUNG)

Really . Well I just noticed that I do have revel 2.2. But did not know about the raw support. This is huge news to my ears. Bec traveling with external hard drives are a pain. Plus I did think about signing up with this site. But I decided to Waite to see what adobe has Instored. And the news. Shocking . I am under the free membership for now. But as soon as I get a year around job or have a lot of clients. I am thinking of upgrading. When I did have the premium account. I paid $5.99 a month. Not pad. But yearly sounds better bec I one pay $19.99 a month with adobe cloud.

So how does it work? Will it work with creative cloud,Lightroom and photo shop as far as down loading the raw photos to the software.

The creative cloud is a different cloud than the Revel cloud. The raw files can be uploaded to revel from adoberevel.com or from an iOS device where they were loaded using a camera kit.

Hey thank you. I just upgraded my revel account. From free to a $59 a yearly subscription. Just to check out the raw support. Okay. So I have noticed that the web supports raw. And it shows up as a raw file. But when you view it on the desktop revel app, and iPad. It converts the file to a raw. JPEG file. How is that possible ? I only knew of one or the other. Not a combo of both. I'm just wondering . Bec I'm looking at the download viewable, on desktop. And it shows save as _MG_101.cr2.jepeg. Very interesting.

So how does adding raw files work when using revel for the web and iOS ?

I just tried uploading a D300 NEF online (adoberevel.com) but it said "file format unsupported" or something like that. Do you have to be a premium subscriber or what..

Yes, you have to upload to a library in an account with a paid subscription. Free accounts and free trials do not have the option.

I'm trying to edit a CR2 file via my mac client. I'm getting this message. Where can I download the newer version of the Revel mac client? The one I see in the App store (Swiss store) was last updated in April.

"Your version of Revel cannot edit this kind of image file format. Please upgrade to a newer version of Revel to edit this photo."

The most current release of the Mac client is 1.10 and it does not yet support video. Win8, iOS, and Adoberevel.com have already been updated so that they can play your uploaded videos.

This FAQ has more details on file types supported for each platform:

Hi,
Before I will pay any abo fee I want to be absolute sure about using cr2 files with revel.
I want to use my IPAD as a picture backup when I am on tour so the following workflow needs to be supported
- take pictures in cr2 with my camera
- import them to my IPAD (via connection kit or WLAN device)
- upload to revel
- back home, import the picture ( synchronize what ever) from revel with Lightroom 5. The imported file needs to be originally the cr2 file from my camera. Including gps data etc.

Is that supported for premium account?
How many cr2 files are allowed to be stored in the cloud at a time?

That would be absolute perfect for my personal workflow.
Thanks for answers.

Greetings from Germany

Hi Ein,

Regarding your questions above:
You can upload cr2 files to revel from your ipad.

The issue I see with your workflow is that revel does not sync photos to lightroom. You would have to sync your ipad files back with your computer and then open them in lightroom.

A premium account in revel allows unlimited uploads.
