That might be nice, at least for some of us. I get awfully tired of it popping up in a modal state when the whole selection was an accident, or even when I'm loading a luminosity mask and know that nothing is more than 50% selected. I'd prefer it if I could shut the warning down the way I do for other warnings once I've understood what they're about and don't need to be reminded anymore. Just a ding on my computer is often enough to remind me that something isn't going to behave as I might normally expect.

Maybe they're worried that people will wonder why nothing is being selected and flood their help desk.

But perhaps if they do worry and that's why this one you can't turn off,  they could swap the main message for one of those  fade out announcements if we click "Do Not Show." Since the selection is actually valid, perhaps just say Can't Display Outline? That should remind people without their having to respond to the  popup.
