Note: for the desktop apps, if you don't immediately see the updates, you can force a refresh on your Creative Cloud App with the [Alt/Opt]+[Ctrl/Cmd]+[ R ] keyboard shortcut.

The updates should appear after the app refreshes.

Hi. Since updating to Photoshop CC 20.0 (Mac OS Mojave version 10.14) holding shift or option shift no longer keeps the proportions while free transforming layers.
And the Liquify filter still buggy (creates weird pixels).  While the workaround for Liquify helps, it's not ideal as it messes up my workflow.
Please advise.

Constrain proportions is on by default. The issue with Liquify is a Graphics driver issue which will be addressed in a future update.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Got it!
How do I revert PS to the old undo (command Z)?

Probably you have go to 'Edit / Keyboard Shortcuts'. I'm going to do it later as well.

Photoshop CC 20.0 It works extremely terribly. Constant freezes. Long opening of files (up to 5 times longer), the timeline is broken, files with smart objects do not open...

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Bridge doesn't seem to import previous UI settings (panels, filmstrip mode, etc).

Also you can add Bridge info to the headlines:

With all of the income of monthly subscriptions for the use of Lightroom, that's all you give us as a new major release? Well here's hoping it isn't as dog slow as the current version ...

It might be that Adobe’s expanded customer base just means new problems for scaling instead of more new useful features faster.

It might be even understandable, but their promise with the change to subscription based business model was especially more new features more quickly.

I already discovered a bug. In earlier versions of Photoshop, if you held down the shift key while transforming an image, it would constrain the image. Not so with version 20. This is really really slowing me down and is a major irritation. Fix this.

Also posting about this on social media.

I'll be ironic. Now we made a window in your room where you had a wall, so you don't have to walk out of your home anymore, you can be happy where you are.

The problem is people have different needs, and others can't make choises for them, they won't be happy with a stuff others are. Enforcing to something doesn't look for me to be right.

You can change back to the old behavior:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/whats-new.html

To revert to the legacy transform behavior, do the following:

  1. Use Notepad (Windows) or a text editor on Mac OS to create a plain text file (.txt).
  2. Type the text below in the text file:

    TransformProportionalScale 0

  3. Save the file as "PSUserConfig.txt" to your Photoshop settings folder:
    • Windows: [Installation Drive]:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings\
    • macOS: //Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings/

Still why didn't adobe provide a preference in the Preferences instead of the way explained above?

On this page it says

"Beginning with the October 2018 release of Photoshop CC (version 20.0), the 32-bit version of Windows is no longer supported. For support with 32-bit drivers and plug-ins, use earlier versions of Photoshop"

Does that also mean there is no longer 32 bit support for adobe dng converters as well?
(adobe dng converter 11.0 and newer)

I would like also to ask why then Startup Scripts are not in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC

but still in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC

If it's 64 bit Photoshop version then why they are in 32 bit version folder?

For example from few releases Bridge is in correct folder, so why not Ps as well:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge CC 2019

A lacklustre "major release" of Lightroom Classic. Nothing much here for me as a Nikon photographer.

Depth range masking - useless! Sure, lots of people take photographs with iPhones, but I would say most don't care about using software like Lightroom Classic. Lr's strength is its RAW processing, this 'feature' targets HEIC. Not much use to DSLR photographers shooting RAW.

Single-step HDR Panorama merge - fantastic. This will save a lot of time if you do this sort of merging. I do like this new addition. However, there are other merging functions being requested by users, such as focus stacking or image stacking for astrophotography, which have been completely ignored.

Faster tethering for Canon camera - good for Canon users, no one else.

Process version improvements - lower noise for high ISO. Barely noticeable.

Very few bug fixes.

A very disappointing release of Lr.

Thanks Cameron, I have have been down that path with reasonable success. But this:

"Color LUTs work by mapping a particular RGB value to a different RGB value. They are applied near the end of the image processing pipeline..."

means that Lr's controls are looking at the negative image and so tone controls are reversed (shadows become highlights, etc) and work in reverse. Some cause significant color shift and in the profiles I've created, auto white balance and the color balance tool don't work at all, Only manual color balance can be used.

A dedicated film negative tool would be so much better to fully utilise the raw processing power of Lr.

Try this then instead of the 3DLUT route: http://cloud.cameronrad.com/16414b7d5e4a

Includes a Lightroom Tone Curve Preset (.lrtemplate - Legacy) and Enhanced Camera Profile built from that tone curve preset.  Controls will still be reversed, might provide better quality results though. One could probably just make a DNG profile with this curve as well. Or possibly the HSL look table. That might fix the reverse controls.  I'll give it a shot later

I have to agree with Anthony.  A lackluster release; should have been a 7.5.8 or maybe a 7.6, but an 8.0?

I didn't seen an improvement in the Canon tethering.  Nothing about Sony.  The emphasis on HEIC confirms what I said after that disastrous release in October 2015 with the 'import for idiots' interface: Lightroom has decided their business model is to be subscription for the iPhone crowd.  Pros and amateurs shooting raw with DSLRs are left standing by the roadside.

Having said that, I wouldn't hold my breath, Anthony, waiting for Adobe to add astrophotography focus stacking; they probably don't even know what dark and light flats are!  Besides, there are very good dedicated programs out there, e.g., Zerene Stacker.

Ditto for the HDR panos—better off to use an dedicated program as an external editor than try to cram more stuff into already bloated code.

Negative film and color cast tools would be a godsend.  I should live so long.

However, I would give up all of these to have some decent performance and a true relational database under the Lightroom covers.  All of this featuritis crap is only shoved out there in order to justify to the users the monthly cost of the subscription.

Shiny new objects for the blackbirds.

The numbers mean basically nothing in these days of subscription software. They're not even visible in the UI, but are just used for tech support. If we'd had to wait until now - or even until this time next year, based on the old 15-24 month release cycle - for all of the features we've had released over the last year, it'd look much more like a traditional 8.0.

Give me a way to buy a perpetual license, and I'll upgrade.  But I will NEVER be beholden to a company by renting the software I use.

Yet most of us subscribe to the gym, cable television, Netflix or Spotify.

More or less all software is rented, you get a license and never own it.

Perpetual licenses for cloud software also makes zero sense since the operating costs on the server side are ongoing. So don't hold your breath! I would say there is plenty of good alternatives out there if you want to buy a perpetual license.

The Adobe CC suite is NOT cloud software.  All of the processing takes place on your local machine.  The only thing that happens in the Cloud is storage.

And no, most software isn't rented.  It is licensed.  There is a difference.

There are few alternatives out there, none of them any good.  As long as CS6 works better than any of them, I shall continue to use it.  Right now it works better than all of them.

Hi,
let's look to the tings as they are:
Adobe has used all its development power to make a redesign of that for professionals totally unwanted CC functions. The made also a redesign of the way, the apps communicate with the licence Servers. This might have used a lot of development time.
But: there was probably no time left to fix bugs that are in some cases present for a long time. As an example: they did not fix the Geo Tag problems in Lightroom since Version 7.5. They did not use their development power to fix this, by looking what was changed between 7.4 and 7.5 and is the source the problems. There is also for a long time a problem in using a vignette with some Lightroom profiles, that is not fixed since 7.3. There is more to tell from.
How happy cold users be, if all of that development power would have been used for fixing the bugs. How nice could it be for professional users, if the development focus is not to bring there private and client images in the cloud.
Maybe Adobes goal is to sell the photo products to all the millions of smartphone users that use it to bring their selfies in social networks. Professionals instead need stable tools that work as they should do. (under all circumstances even in regions without any networks)

This all is such a waste of time for Users reporting bugs in this forum and for the developers who have code that crap...

Regards
Mikel

I don't use Lightroom, but regarding Photoshop I said enough to waste time to add more, as well as others trying to make Bridge team to fix bugs, that currently noone can remember when they were introduced for the first time, they are so old!
