Deleted images not moved to trash

If I delete an image (press Back Tab and select "Delete from disk") the image is supposed to be moved to the trash. This does NOT happen. The image is permanently deleted instead.

This happened after I first got a message saying the image could not be deleted, because the volume does not support trash. I found a solution for that on this forum (check "ignore ownership" in Finder for the volume), so I got rid of the cannot-delete-message, but now it deletes it a bit too quickly....

Lightroom is, by the way, the only app that is causing this kind of problems. I never had any difficulties deleting files and moving them to the trash.

"The volume does not support trash", if you google that you get this:

To fix this is easy. Open Finder, click on your external USB drive, make a new folder on it called TRASH (or anything for that matter). The simply hold down CMD and click on Delete <-osx-cmd-delete-backspace-button

What this essentially does is force OSX to start accepting trash for the external drive. Now when you remove & delete files in Lightroom it sends them to trash.

First what operating system are you using.
Second how is the drive formatted.
Please be specific with the reply to both questions.
