Lightroom Classic: Deleted all JPG duplicates on disk programmatically, but Lightroom CC still has the files in the catalog.

I had thousands and thousands of photos that had both the raw and jpg from when I first got my camera. Deleting these manually in Lightroom CC was a pain in the butt, so I deleted them via a script on the command line. Now I've only go the raw files on disk. My new problem is that files still appear in Lightroom. Is there anyway to force Lightroom CC to update its catalog so that these non existent files disappear?

First of all, you are talking about 'Lightroom CC' but I get the impression that you use Lightroom Classic. If that is indeed the case, then choose 'Library - Find All Missing Photos'. That should show all those JPEGs, because as they are no longer on your disk, they will be missing in Lightroom. Select them all and remove them from the catalog.

And now for the most mind numbingly frustrating part. There was one particular vacation that was the worst offender (probably had 90% of my jpegs). After spending a ton of time trying to get it to remove them, I opted to lose my edits and backed up the entire folder for the italy trip, then DELETED all of the photos from lightroom.

I then re-added the Italy photos, but with the jpgs deleted.

All was fine last night. I spent an hour going through and editing my favorite photos.

This morning I woke up and the damn jpegs WERE BACK! What in the heck adobe!

I think that, even after deleting these photos, they must still be on the cloud. Why the came back I have no idea.

last year I wrote a blog about how to ditch the JPG part of RAW+JPG pairs which may be of some use.  As you have already done some purging of jpg's pick and choose sections frrom the blog which apply.

You can find it here:

Hope it helps

Great article if you have imported unwanted JPEGs.
