As much as I appreciate Adobe FINALLY adding the free rotate feature in photoshop, I am annoyed that you cannot hide, or change the opacity level, of the "compass rose" that shows up when you initiate the rotate. I was informed recently that I can rotate without seeing the rose if I mouse over the word "rotation angle" and scrub, but that begs the question "why is there no rose when I do that, but there is when I try to do it the more intuitive way?". If Adobe can make it so that I can hide the rose I would greatly appreciate it.

If you use the trackpad, gesture, or keys to rotate, you can rotate by mistake and need an indication that you are rotating the image (and how to get back to "normal").

If you use the options bar, you are making a choice to rotate the image, have a readout of the angle, and don't need the additional indicator.

But, the rose only shows up when you are engaging in a rotation, it isn't always visible, in 3D software it makes sense, in a 2D application like PS it doesn't. Besides simply hitting the ESC key reorients everything instantly anyway. I use a Wacom tablet in conjunction with a Nostromo speedpad. The Nostromo has the rotation key bound to it, so it's a simple matter when working of hitting that key, rotate, then go back to my brush key, it's analogous to rotating a sheet of paper. The annoying thing is that when I'm rotating, that grotesquely large rose is smack dab in the middle of the screen, not off in a corner somewhere for reference, plus, it isn't translucent enough to ignore. Adobe really could've implemented this functionality A LOT better.

...and don't get me started on the added color wheel.

Actually, I've never seen the compass rose, even though I've used Photoshop (CC) quite a bit using a touchpad... Is it a feature that needs to be turned on or something? I know my touchpad does support multitouch, which works great for scrolling, but rotating in PS, I've never seen that happening.
