Feature request...

Allow a user to point a custom domain to their Slate creation(s)

and/or

Allow a user to make a custom appendage to the Slate.com url like tinyurl or bit.ly offers.

Why not offer these options? Some Slate users won't care if this is more of their their anonymous tinypic type hosting, but Slate is more powerful and can have professional applications. Also, clickthrough rates aren't as strong with shortened URL links in social media posts as much as custom domains.

Thanks.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Custom Domain with Slate?.

Can you use a custom domain with Slate. If the answer is "no"...
1. Will you let us customize the URL like tinryurl does?
2. Are custom domains in the works?

Thanks. This info should be in your FAQs.

Can I use Slate created page as my web site with custom domain name? Or is it possible to export the code to customize my hosted web site?

Thank you,
Mark

There is additional information about doing things of this nature outside of Adobe Slate on this thread: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

Hey Rikk,

Not sure I understand what additional information is available from your comment, "The link function can be set to an http:// link with a display text description" on http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

Are you suggesting we edit the viewable text for the link but it retains the Adobe Slate URL in the HTML? If so that's not really a solution since we can't edit the HTML in things like Facebook posts.

What we are asking is if we can assign a custom domain (point DNS) to Slate creations. This could be an upgrade. Adobe could partner with a domain seller and offer this just like Squarespace. At least give us the option to custom append the URL to something like: https://slate.adobe.com/customname

Slate is innovative and definitely has a market, but it could be much, much more powerful and have wider application with a custom domain option.

I would like to edit the link url to a custom one so my site is visible with the link when shared.

I love the idea I saw in the post about removing the footer too. Custom domain capabilities and ability to remove/hide Slate branded footer would be awesome "perks" for Adobe CC subscribers.

Little "perks" for our loyalty after CC went subscription and further price increases based would go a long way especially as other stand alone software competitors like Serif and Affinity rise up to steal Adobe market share.

This might also keep subscribers happier since so much of the subscription improvements seem to be app based (not software subscription based) and Slate is free to anyone. That might help some loyal customers not feel like they are paying for others to get free apps. Just sayin'.
