Photoshop 2015.5: Custom Guide Layout Presets lost after upgrade

Hey Folks,

The upgrade process stated that all user defined presets would be copied over to the new install, however my custom guide layouts for RWD were removed and not replaced.

I need them asap as I'm mid course on a large project. As a last resort, I'm going to attempt to recover them from a Time Machine backup, but will need to know where the custom .GDS files are stored.

Default .GDS files are stored at Presets > Guides, but apparently those which are user defined are not at that location.

Can someone help me out?

Hi Josh,

Please check the following folders for the presets from CC 2015:

Mac
---
/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015/Presets/Guides

Windows
---
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015\Presets\Guides

Where <USERNAME> is your username.

Copy the guide preset files (.gds) into the corresponding CC 2015.5 folder:

Mac
---
/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5/Presets/Guides

Windows
---
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5\Presets\Guides

And then re-launch Photoshop.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for getting back to me and for the helpful tips.

Strangely, my CC 2015 folder is empty. However my CC 2014 folder has my custom .GDS files.

What's odd is that I didn't create the custom guides with PS CC 2014. They were created with a fairly recent version of CC 2015 (not CC 2015.5). I use PS CC 2015 every day, and many of those days I access my custom guides, so I know they were available to PS CC 2015 before upgrading to PS CC 2015.5, yesterday.

Perhaps there was a migration error during the upgrade.

At any rate, it looks like I'm back in business.

Thanks again!

PS - I'm on OSX 10.11.5
