How about being able to choose the curves working mode? Like, adding a HSL curves adjustment layer?

In which application?

Please understand that curves work on the channels of the document, in a minimally destructive way. Doing a color conversion as part of the curves adjustment would be more destructive, and pretty misleading.

No, you said you wanted a rubber duck for your screw. :-) You described what you thought might be a solution (which really wasn't right), instead of describing the problem so we could come up with a real solution.

Your mockup further demonstrates that you are on the wrong track with your imagined solution -- you don't understand the curves adjustment and why it is completely wrong for the problem you are trying to solve.

Yes, the solution might use a UI sort of like part of the curves adjustment, but it would have to be something very different from the curves adjustment.

Basically, you are asking for something that is completely different from the topic you posted in, but because you focused on your imagined solution, it took at least 6 posts to get an understanding of what you needed.

So I'm on topic and in the correct thread only if we map saturation to saturation, hue to hue, l to l, a to a, b to b?

I still disagree with you, but feel free to call it hue/saturation-spline-adjustment if you like.

And yes, I see why it would be beneficial to not mix this up with the current Curves Adjustment and make it a separate adjustment (even if the core interface of the two adjustments would have similarities). This way you can leave your regular curves adjustment "pure" and per channel. We covered that several posts ago.

Yes, you would be on topic only if talking about mapping within each channel (for modes other than the current document mode).

Unfortunately I can only branch main post within the topic, not responses to a post.

What do you know... Affinity Photo has this now and it works great.

Fingers crossed for Photoshop getting this in 2027!

Dear Adobe Gripe #8043

"Why do I have to switch an entire document to LAB mode and back (and flatten it in the process) if I just want to apply LAB curves to my current layer? And why are there no HSL curves?!"
