Curious cure for LR shutdown problem

LR (CC 2015) has been behaving strangely on shutdown for some time now - bars of black or white across the top of the screen, no dialog for some time, and then the dialog is incomplete. Eventually it sorts itself out and the complete dialog appears.

Quite by chance I seem to have found the cause and cure.

Win 10 was also very slow in shutting down, and the Event Viewer showed that there was a Critical problem with the Epson_RPCV4_04 file/service which is something to do with the Epson Status Monitor 3. Disabling this service or uninstalling the Epson printer driver (R3000) and installing the latest driver cured the Windows shutdown problem.

The strange thing is it also cured the LR shutdown problem!!! I expect Chris Cox will tell me that this is impossible, but it's happened!! ;)

So if you are having shutdown problems with Win10 or LR and use an Epson printer, make sure you are using the latest printer driver (which includes the latest Status Monitor 3).

I have no idea how that could have an effect on Lightroom. But if it works, it works.
