Photoshop: CTRL Z reverted to legacy behavior

CTRL Z had suddenly reverted to old format. About a week ago, after I finally got use to not having to use ALT for multiple reversals, the system suddenly requires it again. Multiple CTRL Z strokes just bounce back and forth between the last command and the one before it. Just like CS 6 and before. I do not see any indication that I got an unannounced update. Anyone else?

Double check your setting under Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts... and make sure that "Use Legacy Undo Shortcuts" is unchecked.

It's the first thing I looked at.  Unchecked in spite of the fact it is acting like I did reverse.

Howdy Joseph,

Did you recently update your installation?  Did you trash your prefs?

Thanks,
David

I did not intentionally update and I did not trash preferences.  And I still have a problem with "coma" and "period" not changing brushes as they should.

Hi Joseph,

What kind of keyboard are you using?  What happens when you press , or .?  Also, what OS and which version of PS are you running?

Thanks,
David

First, the Ctrl Z is working correctly now after the last update.

Second, in prior communications with Adobe (I think it was with you), I provided all the requested information and never heard back again.

When I press , or . the brush selection usually jumps to a similar sized brush somewhere in the brush panel.   Repeated , or . will ultimately end up on the first or third brush in the panel and bounce back and forth between them.  Occasionally if I am in an area of very similar brushes, it may work properly for a stroke or two before starting its random pattern.

I am using a Fellows Microban keyboard, the same one I have used with CS6 before I   "upgraded".  Windows 10 and the latest update of PS.

Hi Joseph,

I went through my notes and I did ask you before, but I couldn't reproduce the problem you're seeing.  I don't have access to the same hardware, so that's where I hit a road-block.  When I tried with a standard keyboard, I couldn't reproduce the problem.  Have you checked to make sure it's not your keyboard?  I would try with a regular keyboard to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks,
David

Aloha, David.

I tried to send an email reply to you but that did not work.

The control Z problem went away with the latest update.

With respect to the  period, comma problem, I tried a Logitech k120 and still got the strange skipping around results.

I also tried on my new Alienware laptop and got the same result even though I had the tech re-install Windows 10 and the latest Photoshop revision.  Same results.

So different computers, different keyboards period and comma still not working for me.

The brush set up is different on each computer so it is not the way my brushes are set up.

Aloha, Joseph,

Hey, could you do a quick screen-capture of the brush problem?  Just expand the Brushes panel and use the , and . to move through the list of visible brushes.  It would help make sure we're on the same page.  Maybe I'll be able to see some detail, cuz I've checked with our resident artist and your bug is news to him too.

Just to be clear here -- you're running an English environment?  OS, keyboard, app?  Cuz if not, well, . and , move all over the place and sometimes get "translated"

Thanks,
David
