Ctrl + click = Move? How do you turn this off?

I use photoshop a lot for drawing. I work very quickly, doing multiple sequence drawing, and i frequently use ctrl+z to quickly undo a mistake. for some unfathomable reason, if I'm still holding ctrl and click my pen back on the screen, it turns into the move tool! The ridiculousness of this feature aside (I'll just click V if I need the move tool, thank you very much), I can't find any way to turn this off! It's very frustrating. Please someone! Help! And No, I am not talking about auto-select! I don't have auto-select turned on. This is a different problem.

Hi Kyle,

What you're encountering are spring-loaded tool shortcuts.  When the Brush tool is active, pressing SHIFT constrains the brush angle, pressing ALT changes to the Pipette/Eye Dropper tool, and pressing CTRL changes to the Move tool.  These shortcuts also work for other tools, such as the Eraser tool.  They are not customizable and were added before tools had customizable shortcuts, as I recall.

Sorry they're a hassle for you, but many users swear by them.

HI David, would it be possible to include an option to disable this feature? It's very easy to accidentally do while painting, and it really disrupts the flow of painting

Howdy Flay,

Unfortunately, there is no way to disable Springloaded Shortcuts.  I suppose if you kept hitting one shortcut on accident, you could simply re-assign that shortcut to nothing, thereby rendering that one inert.

Just a thought,
David

Hi David, thanks for your reply. There is no way to rebind the ctrl key, as far as I'm aware, unless there's something I'm missing? If there is then that's exactly what I've been looking for

I'm aware there's currently no way to disable spring loaded shortcuts, but an option to disable these would make painting in photoshop much easier!
