Photoshop CS 5.1: Photomerge doesn't work at all. I tried to merge 8 pictures and after Untitlled Panorama was created I could't see it and this file just dissappeared.

Hi Maria,

I'm also having trouble with Photomerge, but in terms of it running much slower than in 5.0, not as bad as what you're experiencing. The speed has dropped by at least half. I'm running on a blisteringly fast machine, too (and if you don't have a really fast machine, that might explain why your file disappears altogether.) There is really something wrong here. I hope they fix it in 6. Wish I could help, but at least you have company ;-)

Hi Maria,

A little more information about what I'm working on: the Photomerge subjects I'm creating are combining as many as 100 (yes, one hundred!) 6 meg images and the finished pieces are often above 2 GB in size, so I've been really stretching the envelope here. It's discouraging to hear you're having such trouble with 8-image Photomerge projects, but it must indicate something is broken. I hope Adobe is working on this. How about it, Adobe? On 5.0 my projects would take no more than 3 or 4 minutes to complete. Now, with 5.1, it's often over 10 minutes of processing time. Also - other large files have become unusable with 5.1. I'm thinking of uninstalling my 5.1 and reinstalling 5.0, but just the Photoshop (not the rest of my CS.) Do you know if this could raise problems?

Thanks in advance,
Melvin

Hi Melvin!

Thank you for your answer! I've already found some other topics in web with the same problem, for example hier: http://superuser.com/questions/245102...
Adobe seems to have no interest to fix this bug. The only one way to merge some images is to use File → Scripts → Load Files into Stack... and then using Edit → Auto-Align Layers... like in the link above. But after that you should apply layer masks by yourself to hide the stitches between different parts. In your case with 100 images it would need a lot of patience.
I don't know if the 5.0 is better or not because I purchased 5.0 and received 5.1
