Photoshop CS6 Shuts Down

Hi, my CS6 stopped 'locked up' while I was using it. Could not access task manager (so I unplugged and pulled the battery). Now CS6 and Elements 11 won't work (I've reinstalled both). They start, show a doubleheaded arrow for a cursor, and then stop working before I can access anything (e.g., deactivate). My Premiere and LightRoom copies still work . . . urgently need to get CS6 working - any ideas?

OK, the first problem was a system hang/freeze, not an application problem.
System hangs/freezes are caused by OS bugs, low level driver bugs, or hardware defects (the most common cause is bad RAM).

Your description of what happens when you try to launch Photoshop CS6 doesn't quite make sense. Could you provide more details?
