CS6 not opening multiple images at a time anymore, and background window resizes

I have PS CS6 on Windows 7, 64 bit with 12GB of memory and plenty of processing power. I'm having problems opening multiple images at one time, and usually the background window minimizes as the files open instead of staying at full screen.

Here's what I've always done. I open the folder of images I have to work on, and I select 4 to 8 consecutive files. Then I right click on one of the selected images and choose, "Open". PS may start out opening all of the selected images in one try, but soon I'm reduced to only getting two files to open in one try.

My second annoyance is when these files try to open, the background window (which doesn't exist on Mac I believe) minimizes and the open images hide it. I always keep that window at full screen to hide my other programs, but this process will usually make it minimize so I can't find it behind the images, and it also causes problems trying to zoom my images down (Ctrl - minus).

Is there anyway to fix these problems?

Thanks!

The background is the application frame - on Windows it is required, on MacOS it is optional. I've never seen it minimize automatically.

Can you try the steps I described to see if you can recreate the problem I have?

Yes, but what you describe doesn't happen.

So I found that the background jumps to it's last size. I like to work in full screen mode so I don't see anything else but my images, and photoshop is not holding the full screen mode when I open images like I described. I changed the background so it's almost full screen, and now it doesn't affect me so much. The problem is that I work remotely a lot, and when I do that it resizes the background smaller, so when I come in, I'll have to put it back each time.

So that's one problem explained, but I still have problems opening more than 2 images at a time. Sometimes they all open, but probably 60% of the time I only get 2 or 3 images to open at a time. It's not very productive.

If you have any suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I get lots of responses from tech people who say they've never seen the problems I experience. Did you try the same process I explained to see if it happens to you? Each file is from a Canon camera and is a jpeg at about 43MB, or 4765 x 3177 pixels. Try it a few times and tell me if all the files open each time, and if the application frame minimizes on you.

Thanks
