Hi I have elements 9 and thought I'd try CS5. I've downloaded the trial version but when I try to open a file, even a jpeg. I get "CS5.1 has stopped working. Bridge works fine. I have 64 bit Win 7 with a PC that easily meets the specs.
Anyone know what I can do?
thanks

Does this happen when you also try to create a new file?

Something to try: Go into Photoshop's preferences, under the Performance tab, and disable OpenGL drawing. Then try opening an image. If that works, it means that something is wrong with your video card driver and you need to update the driver.

I agree with Chris. This sounds like a driver issue. Instructions to fix:

Determine what video card you have and go directly to the manufacturers website (nVidia or ATI/AMD) and download the latest driver. GPU and OpenGL support | Photoshop CS4, CS5: http://adobe.ly/OpenGL

Hi Guys

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that and it's working fine now.

The only downside is I've lost my calibration file for the monitor, however the photo club has a Spyder that memebers can yse so I'll be back to normal soon.

Thank you both for your help.
