Photoshop: CS5: Why isn't my scanner recognized?

I have an Epson Perfection 1240U which I accessed in PS7 through File>Import>WIA Epson Perfection 1240. I cannot access it in CS5 without having to find the scanner by selecting File>WIa> and then finding the entire path to the scanner every time. Anyway I can have the entire path as an option in the File>Import menu?

Thank you.

Did you install the optional TWAIN plugin?

And most TWAIN drivers only support 32 bit addressing, so you'd have to run the 32 bit version of Photoshop to use the TWAIN driver.

Hi Chris,

>Did you install the optional TWAIN plugin?

Are you referring to the CS5 install? The driver is the same as the one from PS7 which I can access as outlined in my post.

Thx

If you did not install the optional TWAIN plugin for Photoshop, then Photoshop cannot connect to your scanner driver. And the CS5 plugin is not the same as the one from Photoshop 7 (you should not have copied any plugins from Photoshop 7).

Be warned - the TWAIN plugin was made optional because bugs in many third party scanner drivers were causing Photoshop to crash.

Ok, I'll have to remember the WIA support path to TWAIN then when working from Photoshop.

I have tried installing the epson smart panel but it can't find the TWAIN. Sheesh! Any way I can point the app to the TWAIN directory?
