CS3 crashing when File>Save is triggered on Macbook Pro osx10.7

5 months or so ago I installed my old copy of Photoshop CS3 on my then-brand-new MacBook Pro. I'm running OSX 10.7 and it's been working great, until all of a sudden today I opened a .psd file that was originally created in Photoshop CS1 and now all of a sudden any time I try to do File>Open or File>Save, File>Save As or any similar command the program immediately crashes. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Try running Repair on the disk from Apple's Disk Utility.

Apple's open and save dialogs are particularly sensitive to a bug in Apple's TNode/TNotifier code inside the desktop filesystem code (Desktop Services aka FinderKit). Running Repair usually fixes the data structure problems, and avoids the bugs.

Thanks for your reply Chris, we tried that and it did not work.
We also downloaded something from adobe's website that resets software from Power PC/32 bit mode back to 64 bit mode, but that did not work either. Any other ideas?

Ok well, fortunately my computer was due for a firmware update, so I ran that and afterwards all seems to be back to normal. still, that was very strange and I'm not sure how/why it was triggered.

OK, that is weird. Glad you've got it working again.
