Photoshop CS3: Issues with saving/opening files with OS 10.11.3

Since I updated my Mac operating system to El Capitan 10.11.3, Photoshop CS3 has bugs. 1. When I try to save an open file it says “Could not save file because the file is already in use or was left open.” I have to Save As with a different name. Help! 2. When I open a file with text layers I see “Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used foe vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?” When I check Yes, the text has squares instead of spaces between words. Help!

Did you upgrade the OS or do a clean install of El Capitan? The first issue indicates some other application or utility you have installed is modifying the file. The second one indicates the font you used is missing.

I upgraded from the previous OS with Photoshop working fine. Changing fonts solved the problem, don't know why after using Helvetica Bold hundreds of times it doesn't work anymore?? But if changing fonts solves the problem, I'm fine. The other bug of not being able to save a file still persists, even with all other apps closed. How can I troubleshoot it to find the conflict? Thanks for the help so far!
