Please add a plugin for photoshop for cryptomatte just like the EXR-IO plugin, which is very effective. This would be really helpful especially for architects and interior designers who use Adobe Photoshop for post production work; without the need for learning or switching to a new software like Nuke and Fusion, just to be able to take advantage of Vray Cryptomatte.

Plus one from me. I output a Cryptomatte on virtually every 3D CGI job I do. A high proportion of these are stills - and are therefore assembled and refined in Photoshop. Having Cryptomatte functionality in Ps would be a real bonus!

Please note: Cryptomatte is now available across many 3D CGI Rendering engines - not just Vray. I use Redshift myself.

Can a developer give us a heads up ? Is it ever gonna be implemented ? Are you working on it ? It's an actually useful feature, not like the ones we got in the latest release. Any word would be appreciated.

And no idea if it ever will. Thats also my concern. Lack of communication + useless features + buggy new features = ?

Yeah, in order to utilize CryptoMatte now, for example output from V-Ray renderer. Only popular ways seems to be using NUKE or Fushion or AE+plugin for that matter (overkill). Like WTH, why could it become so damn hard for user to utilize.. Especially when not everyone do VFX and video editing along with 3d still CG image.

yes please implement cryptomatte. as a 3d artist, i'm using otoy's octane render which also generates cryptomatte layers. it's going to be a standard for high end image compositing...

Two years without response ?

adobe being on the stock market, we can not expect much from them unfortunately....

this feature should have been implemented for a long time.

Ask for functionality on the chaos group forum and they answer you in the day if it's possible or not.

A another world....

I can reach out the Cryptomatte developers, but we have a Plug-in SDK that's publicly available: https://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshop/sdk.html & a partner program: https://helpx.adobe.com/support/programs/adobe-support-for-developers.html. If they have questions or concerns they can get help from myself and Thomas Ruark developing a plug-in for Photoshop.

Hi Jeffery;
here is one that works with Cryptomatte:

https://www.exr-io.com/exr-io-2-00/

Exr-IO with full Cryptomatte support and probably all EXR features which exist at the moment.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Free Exr/Cryptomatte and AutoMaskLayer tools for Photoshop.

Hello,
i have read many feature requests about how Photoshop should import Exr or Cryptomatte layers, so i thought it would be good to post the solutions.

First one is Exr-IO (www.exr-io.com) a free plugin for automatic OpenExr reading with all layers and extra features.

Second is a free Script which allows artist to create automatically from any number of masked layers from either cryptomatte or simple grayscale layers.
you can find the tutorial and the free script here:
https://youtu.be/VCasmKdRLc4

I hope this can help you for the start while trying to compose your art.

thanks and if you have any ideas to this development, please feel free to write it here so we can implement it :)
thanks
