Lightroom: Cross-platform catalog issues

When opening an LR catalog on WIndows that was created on macOS several problems occur:
  1. Import from another catalog crashes LR entirely if you are trying to import photos from the macOS catalog
  2. Opening the catalog may crash LR
  3. If the catalog is successfully opened, all the photos are missing (this is expected because the path is changed). Locating individual files works but it only finds that exact file, "Find nearby missing photos" doesn't work. "Find missing folder" gives error "An internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)"
The catalog was created on an external drive along with all the photos on macOS Mojave. Original path (as displayed by LR): "\Volumes\Samsung_T5\2019 Maaliskuu Yllas". Tried opening it in Windows 10.

IMHO the #1 reason for this is the difference in how the OS's address and access the hard drives. Mac uses drive Names and windows uses drive Letters.

This is absolutely not normal. Catalogs are supposed to be fully cross platform compatible, except for the obvious need to reconnect the missing folders due to the difference in drive naming.

Update: I was able to use "Find missing folder" in the macOS-originated catalog by right-clicking on the missing folder of the highest level, and selecting "Show parent folder" until the external drive itself was visible in Lightroom. At that point I could use "Find missing folder" and after that locate the missing images, and LR found the nearby missing images as well.

Trying to import the photos from the macOS catalog to another catalog still results in an unknown error.

I still consider this a bug and would like to see this fixed, but at least I was able to fix the issue.

I recently moved from OSX to Win10 and i have dozens of catalogs spanning multiple drives and had zero issues.
