Cropping and Zooming Images in Photoshop Elements 11

Dear Sirs,
Problems with newly purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. Day One, 2 minutes in to trying product, two problems straight away. Zooming the image and cropping the image.
If one cannot do these two basic tasks easily, the programme is useless. It will take too long to Zoom/ crop and print photos.
Zooming - cannot use the mouse scroll to zoom image.
It is a "click this, click that" scenario to zoom an image and an information box
popping up three times along the bottom annoyingly taking up a large proportion of
the editing space.
Cropping - it is not simple to crop an image. You select the cropping tool
and up pops the annoying information boxes again, then when trying to crop a photo precisely the cropping line tends to jump one or two millimetres. I have no
such problems with Photoshop Elements 5 or indeed a very old Photoshop Elements. I run Windows XP on my PC and I purchased the Photoshop Elements 11 for when I upgrade to Windows 7. What I am saying is that I think that this is a defective product and never tried out by anyone experienced in use of Photo Elements. It is no good having a product with all singing and dancing features if it cannot do the two basic operations easily.
Yours faithfully, David Price. Please Advise Soon. david@price5.eclipse.co.uk

Hi,

I understand your Problem .As you said you are on WIN 7 with PSE 11
Try these workarounds-

1)For Zoom - , Select Zoom tool and press Alt + use Mouse scrolling to zoom in and zoom out .

2)For Cropping - For Precise selection ,ON Caps Lock to change the cursor to cross-lines.
