Photoshop: Ability to Crop with Bleed

I'm just to embark on the final stage of cropping 50 images, all of which are different sizes, and will need a 1/8" bleed. The saved files need to be Tiffs. Anyway, is there a reason that the smart people who have developed Adobe Photoshop into the outstanding application it is today, have not created a "Crop with Bleed" option? We work for a lot of magazines, and everyone needs various bleed sizes... it's always a pain in the @ss. It seems like Photoshop developers could implement such an action, which would create a massive, collective sigh of relief for photographers & retouchers everywhere>

I've always used ID for that sort of thing, but if you just use PS, of course you want bleed. I take it what you really want is an option (in the options bar, so it doesn't get in anyone else's way), to add a bleed input field to the measurements in the Options bar? I guess the crop would then expand the canvas by that amount all around?
