Photoshop CS6: freezing problems with file IO after MacOS X 10.9 update.

Photoshop cs6 as well as Illustrator cs6. Impossible to work on after 10.9 Mavericks update. Software freezes while opening a file, editing smart object, saving (not always). Freeze can be as long as few minutes. Happens to me and couple other coworkers (others are fine). We are running MacBooks pro 2.3 i7 to 2.7 i7 with 16gb of ram. Seems that this is very common problem, many others are trying to downgrade to M lion again in order to be able to do their job. I have tried many things (updating Java, disabling graphic acceleration) nothing helps.

The only freezes we've seen so far are due to the OS font cache rebuilding.

We have some other problems that appear to be related to Wacom drivers (white menus), but nothing too widespread.

It sounds like you're having problems with file IO. Have you checked your disk for problems? Are you opening or saving on a network server?

Yes, I did repair permissions, several times. One of the coworkers, reinstalled CS6 and CC, but it didn't help anything. I have FontAgent to manage fonts, thought it may be a problem with auto activation plugin, so i disabled that, no help here either.

All files are local, never experienced this issue before (system upgrade). Both apps literally show - not responding - in activity monitor while loading a file. 37mb file can load 1-2 minutes, in perspective before it would take 5-10 sec.

Another user saw something like that after launching, and it took about 20 minutes for the OS to rebuild the font cache. Have you tried letting the app sit for a while?

Hi Tomek,

Does starting from a new user account or safe mode correct the problem?

Found solution!
In my and my co-workers situation, those who were running Adobe Drive 4 had the problem. After uninstalling Adobe Drive 4 everything started working immediately, for all of us. Those who didn't have problem either didn't have Adobe drive or had already upgraded to Adobe Drive 5.

Affected creative suites: CC and CS6.

I have similar behavior but do not believe I have Adobe Drive running - is that part of a generic CC install? What I do notice is that when the big freeze occurs - killing the network interface seems to bring back use of my mouse and ability to switch between apps. But then the suite is in a wierd state and tells me I am not registered as a user.
Never had this problem before Mavericks. Spent 4 hours last night trying to edit ine simple image - after 5-10 minutes of productive work in photoshop the indefinite freeze occurs and I have to kill the network and reboot each time to get any responsiveness back. Very annoying.

There is still no fix for this? Updating did not change behavior.
