Lightroom Mobile: Crashes on iPad since update 4.3.1

Since the latest update Lr crashes every few minutes, usually when I try to crop a photo, but also when I am simply browsing. I am using an iPad Pro with the most recent iOS version. I hope there will be a new update soon to improve the stability. It is almost impossible to use the app any longer.

Hans,

We'd like to collect a diagnostic log from you. I am emailing you with instructions.

I’ve had several crashes recently too. Happens when editing a large group of photos in succession. I’m on the iOS 13 beta now, but it was happening with iOS 12 before that. Let me know if my logs would help.

I’m having the same problem. Lightroom is crashing and taking the whole iPad down with it, forcing the iPad to reboot itself. I’ve never seen an app do that before.

Are you able to collect a log for us or does it crash before you can?

*iOS Log File*
can be triggered when you  open up the  Lr Mobile settings and  then navigate in to the Help&Support section and long-press (2-3 sec) “Access our Support Forum”-entry and a  diagnostic log will be generated and attached to your local mail client.

The crash is instantaneous. I’ll be using the app, normally dragging a slider or using Heal with an Apple Pencil and the screen will suddenly go black, followed by the Apple logo as it reboots.

I actually thought that iOS was supposed to stop an app taking down the whole OS so I’m really surprised by it. It’s happened about 6 times in 4 weeks, and about 100 photos.

Hi

I’m still experiencing this crashing frequently and it’s starting to render the app unusable for editing sessions. It happened 3 times during an editing session last night, and then again mid-batch export to Photos. Am I the only person experiencing this?

Version 4.4 for iOS - iPad was released yesterday. Do you still see the issue after installing the update and restarting your device?

Sometimes it takes more than 12. Usually it happens when I'm working through photos I imported in RAW format straight from my camera.

Craig indicates it takes only 2-3. I did another 12 and still no crash.  So far we can't reproduce a  crash behavior. Please see the other questions I asked in the post above

Also time to look at
  • Free Space on iPad
  • iOS Version number
  • iPad Model number
  • verify the Lightroom version number

Rikk, I’m currently no longer having the crop related problem (fingers crossed). I’ve been trying to track any changes and the only thing I know for certain is a recent update to IOS 12.4.1

I’ll continue to monitor things on my end and let you know if the issue reoccurs. I can’t say for certain the IOS update is related, but at this time I’m not having the issue. Prior to this reply I went in and cropped about 10 images without any issue.

@Rikk, I updated my iPad to iPadOS 13.1.2. I then added another 500 images to a synced folder on my Mac yesterday and am now trying to go through them in LR on iPad. The app crashes within 10 seconds of opening. Do you have any ideas what to do please?  Thanks.

The first step would be to update to 13.1.3 and see if the crash persists.
