Lightroom 2015.2 has killed my capacity to work - it is constantly crashing (and yes, I have ticked off the box in the preferences)

How can we go back to 2015.1

Adobe, how can you have gotten this so wrong?

I am having same problem with crashes of LR CC 2015.2.1 after I upgraded to MAC OS 10.11.1. LR hangs up, crashes; with Import, may crash or may take forever to download photos from card, or they may just not download; have had to do multiple Force Quits. Cannot see the Keywords list. Cannot create name for a subfolder. I did go into Preferences and disabled the "Add Photos" screen, as was recommended as a solution by Adobe on one site that I visited. At first some improvement, now same problems. I note that some complaints on this site are a month old. Adobe has not sent out an update to the LR CC. What gives?

Lightroom 6.2
software crashes upon starting
software is now very slow on my mac although LR 6.1.1 was working fine
Import features are missing and my workflow is crippled.
I thought that lightroom was a program for photographs to work on their photos and not a gadget for a smartphone!
Wake up!
Fix it!

Thanks for your help. I tried unchecking the “add pictures” option in preferences which did not help. In the end I used Time Machine to revert to the previous version of LR; everything is fine now...

My OS is Mavericks and LR was crashing upon start up. You have to go in the preference screen and "untick" the "add pictures" selection. After that it worked correctly.
But use with El Capitan may bring more surprises.

And the main problem remains to be addressed by Adobe concerning the new import menu which transformed at "tool for photographs" into a gadget for smartphones and a "you have to use my Cloud ore else"

It's worth nothing that if you can't get to the Preferences dialog to uncheck the Show Add Photos screen checkbox, you may need to first reset the preferences by holding down Shift + Opt while starting LR.

I just updated Lightroom CC. It has crashed four times so far. Once when printing, once when exporting, once when deleting two photos and once when I wasn't doing a thing. Help please! I'm on Mac (El Capitan).

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Newest Lightroom CC on Mac: Many reports of crashing, slowdowns, failed imports.

I am seeing extensive reports on social media that the version of LR CC released for Macintosh a couple of days ago (Oct 5?) is causing relentless crashing, slowdowns, and failed imports. Warnings are widespread that we should NOT upgrade to the latest release. I am writing this note to make sure that you are aware of this. Google Laura Shoe if you need more details. Or check any forum.

Unable to sync folders with el Capitan and Lightroom CC (latest update). Also persistent crashing even when NOT trying to import photos. Unable to keep Lightroom open for more than 5 minutes before it crashes. "Add photo" option un-ticked and Lightroom reopened. NO benefit.

ARE ANY OF YOU REPORTING THESE PROBLEMS TO ADOBE?

Yes we must contact Adobe technical support and tell them.

Otherwise they will never know and the occasional person that does report the problems will not be believed.

The best thing that you can help when you experienced a crash, is to submit the crash log to Adobe through Adobe's Crash Report dialog (Mac) and Microsoft through the Windows crash report mechanism.

Those will provide a lot of context for the team to investigate. If you're willing, please provide your email address (in case we need to contact you if your situation is unique) and a brief description of what you are doing inside Lightroom when the crash happens. The development team is actively monitoring the reports looking for any patterns.

In my case, the program would crash so often that I really couldn't use it for anything but sending crash reports. I think it's a little bit much to ask us to try to use such a defective product just so you'll have beta testers

This is very disappointing. I have clients waiting on their photos and this has completely disrupted my regular workflow. I just had three crashes trying to 'Delete Rejected Photos', that is after 3 crashes just trying to import my latest session into LR (had to resort to doing a manual import go copying the files, synching the folder, then writing keywords). This needs to be fixed ASAP or a rollback option needs to be provided as a temporary fix.

Have sent several reports. Using a Mac. When a memory card is inserted, Photos" opens and wants to download. Lightroom promptly dies. Unable to stopPhotos opening or wanting to download. Appears a conflict between Lightoom and Photos. Unable to delete Photos as integral part of new OS Any suggestions please?

usually you can stop apple photos from wanting to download a memory card by inserting it, when photos pops up, uncheck the box that says download from this device (or some such), and it won't attempt to download from it anymore. It must be done for each device

Every time you erase the card, you have to repeat the process. At least with Canon formatted cards. It's really a case of both Apple, and Adobe updating software to make it less functional, more frustrating, and dumber.

It looks as if computer technology has peaked and we are now going backwards.

LR 2015.2 quits frequently on my Macbook Pro Retina. 2015.1 worked well without major problems. The newest quits after a few minutes repeatedly. How do I get my problem into the system so this problem can be fixed.

I am seeing the same issue. LR crashes immediately after starting up. When I reset the settings it will live for a couple of seconds and then crash.
when I start a new catalog, it will live until I add a picture.
The same issue happens in a new user and after reinstalling.

I am really disappointed that Adobe would push such a terrible update without proper testing. Everybody loves the frequent updates through Creative Cloud, but if Adobe can not QC properly at this pace, they should revert to a less frequent update schedule.

Adobe is aware of the issue & we are working on a fix.

Please refer to the link below for the same.

If they have questions of comments about the changes, point them to the Lightroom team blog post on the subject here:

Okay, I "fixed" it...

for those that have the same problem that I had, that LR was crashing so fast that you could not get to the settings...

- Start up with "opt" or "alt" held down.
- choose to create a new empty Catalog
- Disable the offending setting
- restart LR with "opt" and select your proper catalog

This Workaround seems to have done the trick for me.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR crashes regularly when executing certain file operations.

Computer: iMac, OS X El Capitan 10.11. After the El Capitan update Photoshop and Lightroom continued to work without any problems.
After latest Lightroom CC update:
LR crashes regularly (that means without any exception) when attempting
1. to save metadata to the file (by any means / via menue or by shortcut - ctr s),
2. to convert RAW files into DNG,
3. to export files into LR.
No way to get it to work. First time ever, I encountered problems with LR or Photoshop. Looks like a bug.

Hi everybody. Problems have been solved by the links supplied by Mandhir Bhatia (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/...), though a new bug appeared afterwards: now the synchronization of files does not work properly. LR 6 is telling me i.e. "76 files to be imported". After import it says: "no files found to be imported". Nevertheless, all files are actually available and they are the correct versions. This is certainly not ideal, but I can work that way better than before (with care!!!). Good luck to all of you.

Just updated to the latest version of Lightroom CC and it keeps crashing (not responding) at random points; tethered capture, adjusting photo, exporting, etc. It happens every couple of minutes.
