Crash, crash, crash Lightroom Classic CC 7.3.1 verging on unusable

Lightroom Classic CC is crashing every time I open it. Windows 10, “Program Not Responding”.

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences. 

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom. 
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the not-responding behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

It has the virtue that I have never tried it. I will definitely do that the next chance I get.

Am I also supposed to try uninstalling and reinstalling light room?

Try this first. Uninstall/Reboot/Reinstall would be the next step.

Okay, I'll try it.  But I will say that the latest update unilaterally reset the preferences, which took me an hour to get back to normal, when it installed.  And that's when I started noticing the "Not Responding" messages, especially on import/export.

But I'll try this.  And thanks for responding!

Import hangs may be related to the USB device bug that is reported here:  https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-classic-cc-and-importing-windows-10

It should be fixed in the next release.

What's the problem you're having David? This issue was fixed in the last release.
