Elements 7: Could not open TWAIN source

My scanner has worked 100% fine since I got it. Even when I upgraded to new versions of Photoshop it kept working. It worked fine just the other day, but today it suddenly won't scan.

I go to import, but when I choose my scanner (HP Photosmart C4380 TWAIN), this message pops up: "Could not open the TWAIN source. Make sure there is a valid source for your scanner in the TWAIN directory found in the Windows directory."

I've read lots of past topics about this "TWAIN directory" but I don't know if my situation is the same as the others I've read about. I'm no computer whiz, so I'm not sure what to do. I looked in the TWAIN folder like the message asked me to do, but I have no clue what I'm supposed to be looking for.

Thanks in advanced, everyone!
Oh, and I'm using Photoshop Elements 7.

Have you installed any updates to your system, or drivers?

That sounds like your TWAIN driver has been uninstalled for some reason, or just doesn't respond correctly (as if the scanner was disconnected maybe?).
