Bridge - Could we please have more than 9 previews in the preview panel?

Why is the number of previews in Bridge limited to 9. This has been going on forever and is archaic. I would be happy to see smaller previews if I could have them all together. Why 9? Who chose 9?

Can you tell us what you mean? Which previews do you think are limited to 9?

The Preview pane won't show more than nine selected files, even if resized. The previews get larger or smaller instead.

Regardless of how many images you highlight in the content window, the preview window will only display a maximum of 9, and there is little banner which says, for instance "12 Items Selected". I just don't understand the need for this limitation.
