I have a document that is 1.12GB and Photoshop keeps saying 'Could not complete your request because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder.' Can anyone help?

Where is this file located? Do you have permissions to open it?

The file is on our server. I have since moved it off the server and managed to open it locally. Therefore, I think it may be an issue with our server - but it's a coincidence that this only happened when I upgraded to Catalina.

Not a coincidence. Working off a server is a bad idea in general, it just adds tremendously to the number of things that can go wrong.

Yeah, I generally agree, but at 1.12GB every time I need to work on it, I would have to copy it across each time, which adds time to my working day, sadly.

You might need to reach out to your network admin.  If the problem arose when you upgraded to Catalina and it doesn't happen with a local file, it sounds like a network / connectivity issue.

Hope that helps,
David
