Photoshop: Could not complete your request because of a program error (Reproducible Error)

I get this message every time I use asl styles. I can reproduce this error by applying those certain specific styles to a layer that was imported from Illustrator into photoshop by pasting as a smart object. If I modify the error causing styles, I can open the file. But this may or may not work depend upon the settings I happen to select.

Can you share a copy of the file and the styles preset that reproduces the problem?

Sure how do i do that? Also, all the files in question work well in Photoshop 19. I received another error when trying to duplicate the file after applying the style to the layer. "Could not complete the Duplicate command because of a program error."

You can either zip up the files and post them to CC files or drop box and put the URL here, or email me directly at jtranber at adobe dot com

Try this, go to Preferences > Performance... and check "Use Legacy Compositing" and try opening the problematic file. Does that work for you?

Yes, thank you that worked. Is that something that always needs to be on. Will creating new files be made with a legacy composite or is that just a feature to view legacy composites? Will new composites made in v20 with this feature on effect files in v19. Again, thank you.

This should be fixed in the next major update. Files should be compatible between Photoshop and compositing versions and applications versions after the fix goes out.
