Error Message...The Lightroom catalog "Lightroom 3 Catalog" is corrupt and cannot be used or backed up until it is repaired.
The repair operation may take several minutes to complete...blah, blah, blah!

How do you fix this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled software. Have LR 3.6. Cannot get in at all, as this message appears as soon as i try opening LR.

Reinstalling isn't going to change anything.

First thing: do you have a recent backup of the catalogue in the backup location (usually in the subfolder "Backups")? In a pinch, you can use that, and all you lose is the work done between the last time you worked with Lightroom and that backup.

(This is also the time to mention that everyone should review their backup plans...)

Secondly, what exactly are the steps you are taking. When you start Lightroom, does it offer to repair the catalogue? Does it say it is complete or successful?

What platform are you on?
